Today we celebrate the Fourth of July with an electron microscope image of sunburned skin cells from the blistered area of a burn (the result of spilled soup). It was created by Anne Weston, who works at a cancer research organization in London, and won a 2009 Wellcome Image Award.
Speaking of cutaneous calamities, Stanford Hospital recently posted a short video on skin care and protection featuring dermatologic surgeon Hayes Gladstone, MD. It might be worth a watch as we head into the heart of summer.
